You can easily remove the black goo, by applying alcohol and slowly remove it with some tweezers. Just take your time, remove a bit apply alcohol and continue the cycle. Most work is unscrew all screws. Soldering is rather easy, when you have a small solder tip and some tweezers (to hold the cables in place).

Medium quality product, the rigidity is moderate, the best?
